The magazine Hiše—a journal exploring new dimensions of living—was published from 1999 to 2014. It chronicled the milestones that shaped 25 years of the Slovenian built environment. From key shifts in the understanding of public urban space, through the need to rethink rural areas and suburbs, to a changed understanding of heritage renovation and Slovenian modernism, and how to revitalize former industrial complexes. Thematic issues explored housing policy, tourism, iconic architecture touching on spirituality, sports, or living, collective, wooden, and ecological construction, interior design, spatial aspects of natural space conservation, and construction in the future…

2013 Award from the Slovenian Designers Society

Cankarjev Dom Cultural and Congress Center, Ljubljana

Mateja Panter received an award for her competition entry for the Mala ulica Family Center playground project. Every year, DOS presents awards to Slovenian designers for outstanding design projects, for significant work in the field of design theory and criticism, and for professional journalism or contributions to the enrichment of design culture in general.

The Slovenian Designers Society showcased eight products at the Kattilahalli – Suvilahti venue in Helsinki, Finland. Mateja Panter and Jožica Curk contributed the children’s swing “Hi konjiček.”

This year’s biennial curated exhibition by the Slovenian Designers Society is titled ObLIKE. The children’s swing “Hi, Little Horse” is presented at the exhibition by its creators, Mateja Panter and Jožica Curk.

CELEBRATORY CEREMONY MARKING THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE SLOVENIAN DESIGNERS’ ASSOCIATION
Cankarjev dom Cultural and Congress Center, Ljubljana

The ceremonial celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of DOS were attended by numerous guests, including designers, retired and honorary members of the association, and distinguished state guests. The honorary patron of the academy was the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Danilo Türk. The initiator and organizer of the event within DOS was Sašo Urukalo. Mateja Panter and Jožica Curk contributed a gift for the Protocol of the Republic of Slovenia: a golden Hi horse with the serial number 0001.

MATEJA PANTER & DESIGN IDENTITY a series of solo exhibitions by members of the Slovenian Designers Society

Mateja Panter is presenting her solo exhibition *Design Identity* in the First Foyer of Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana. On display panels under the collective title *Spatial Interventions and Creative Attractions*, she showcases her completed works and conceptual reflections. As part of the exhibition, the Slovenian Designers Society will organize a discussion with the artist Mateja Panter and Marko Japelj, moderated by Karin Košak, on the topic: The Significance of Scenographic Objects in Public and Private Spaces.

HI KONJIČEK & LJUBLJANA PUPPET THEATER

Starting in December 2011, rocking horses will entertain young visitors to the Ljubljana Puppet Theatre. We are delighted that the product has also received an international safety certification.

Each year, DOS presents awards to Slovenian designers for outstanding design projects, for significant work in the field of design theory and criticism, and for professional journalism or contributions to the enrichment of design culture in general.

PIRAN ARCHITECTURE DAYS
Hi konjiček at PIDA 2011

The Piran Architecture Days (PIDA) is an international architecture conference with one of the longest traditions in the world. It has been held since 1983, initiated by Slovenian architects. Many world-renowned architects have lectured at the PIDA conference. The PIDA conference is accompanied each year by a series of architectural events. Among them, the most significant is the exhibition for the prestigious international Piranesi Award.

LABIRINT DOS
The Slovenian Designers Society at the Ambient 2011 Furniture Fair

This engaging exhibition, designed as a labyrinth, showcases works by designers who are members of DOS, revealing the thoughts, trends, developments, and practices of Slovenian designers in recent years. Despite—or perhaps precisely because of—the unfavorable economic situation, DOS has recognized the need for even greater promotion of the profession; the purpose of the presentation at the Ambient fair is to promote the creative industries and offer a critical perspective on contemporary cultural, economic, and civilizational development.

SALONE SATELLITE
Salone Internazionale del Mobile /
International Furniture Fair, Milan, Italy

Mateja Panter and Lenka Kavčič (Supernova Architects) were the first Slovenian women to present their work at the I Saloni international furniture fair in Milan. Salone Satellite is an important part of the fair, serving as a creative hub for young designers under the age of 35. It was founded in 1998 by Marva Griffin Willshire.

Exhibition by Supernova Architects – Mateja Panter, Lenka Kavčič, Veronica Egart. A booklet titled *Architecture Is an Intermediate Surface* (published by the KIBLA Cultural and Educational Society) was released to accompany the exhibition. The publication of the booklet and the exhibition were co-funded by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia.
